My
equine interests include Mules, ground training and Trail class
events. I have been published in such magazines as Western Horseman,
Horse Illustrated, Horse Power, Driving Digest and Horse &
Rider as well as regional publications including California Horse
Review, Florida Horse & Pony, Idaho Horseman, and Cascade
Horseman. I have monthly articles in several Idaho equine and
farming publications as well as a monthly column in Mules &
More, www.mulesandmore.com/.
While living in California, I showed Josephine, a black molly
mule owned by Bev and Joe Craigmile, in numerous open shows and
earned Champion and Reserve Champion titles in Trail, English
Pleasure and Hunter Hack. We won the 1987 World Champion Green
Trail Mule title at Bishop Mule Days in California and had the
honor of riding in the 100th Tournament of Roses Parade with the
American Donkey and Mule Society. During that time, I published,
SHADOW RIDER EQUINE NEWS, a community based equine publication
serving the San Fernando Valley and for sentimental reasons, still
use that name. My articles cover a variety of subjects and events
from ground and Trail class, to promoting your horse or event,
but the articles I enjoy writing the most are those geared to
the backyard horseperson and young riders. I currently live in
Salmon, Idaho and am active with area 4-H horse clubs and work
with the Whitewater Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Association.
I also give clinics on working trail obstacles and basic horsemanship.
